  1. "A reservation at Momofuku Ko doesn't come easy, and that's a big part of why it is, and will no doubt remain, the most talked-about new restaurant this year. Under the direction of the young chef David Chang, the restaurant is noteworthy for the intense, revelatory pleasures of its partly Asian, partly French, wholly inventive food. For a reasonable sum you get a number and caliber of dishes -- including a wacky and wonderful blizzard of cold foie gras flakes and a cheeky panna cotta whose sweet, milky flavor mimics the sublime dregs of a bowl of cereal -- that might cost twice as much in a more formal environment. For reservations, visit momofuku.com. -- Frank Bruni -The New York Times "

  3. "Explanation" from James:

The concourse out of GC starts on the NW side, past all the shopping. Best to just follow someone. It's an exploring thing. It goes from GC, to Rockefeller Center, thru other buildings, up to appx Seventh and 51st. Found it walking to work.

Another thing to do is walk North/South mid-block, in midtown. There's a corridor in most places, and most have pocket parks.

In that area, I never found much to eat that was noteworthy. Further away, there's the MOMA cafe...
I've never been, but your taste in decor would lead me to suggest the Lever House on Park Avenue. http://www.leverhouse.com/
    There's also a Houston's near there.
Beekman Tower has a rooftop bar that's got a good view. It's just North of the UN.
