  2. More from Bo:
A must do if you’ve not done this before - walk
over the Brooklyn Bridge from the Brooklyn side.

  3. I'd love to hang out with you there, but since I won't be in NYC any time soon ... a few suggestions for less-than-obvious sightseeing:

For an inexpensive meal in a cool spot, check out The Burger Joint at Le Parker Meridien (W 57th between 6th and 7th). Well-hidden and never advertised, it's kind of an open New York secret.

If you have a friend with you while visiting Grand Central Station, there's a whisper gallery by the Oyster Bar.

The Museum of Sex was pretty interesting -- good place to kill a couple of hours.

An odd little street that most New Yorkers don't know about is Pomander Walk between W 94tha nd 95th off of Broadway. Unless someone happens to be selling a home and there's an open house, you probably can't do much more than peer in from the gate -- but when I went by there with a friend, one of the residents let us in to take a stroll down the block.

Finally, there's a really good sci-fi/comic shop at 4 W 33rd, right across the street from the Empire State Building.

  4. Yea, Cathy, so excited for you! I want to go to Sardi's when I'm over there...someday...so perhaps you can tell me how it is - http://www.sardis.com/htmldocs/cms/
I love just walking through Central Park, with no plan in mind.

  5. So, if you get a chance: free, I think, Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte theater in Central Park, entrance into the park across from the Museum of Natural History, around 79th-81st and Central Park West. You or your designate get on a long line under the sunny trees in the morning, around 9 or so, with coffee and something to read and something to sit on, slowly move up and finally get tickets, retire to a nearby sunny lawn for picnic lunch, walk across to the Met on the east side to go up to the roof deck and hang out in the afternoon looking over Manhattan (I think wine is available up there), then go back for munchables and the play. The Delacorte, if you haven’t seen it, is a faux-castle on a little lake, always a fabulous backdrop to the open-air play.

All the details of this have to be re-checked (it was 5 or 6 years ago, the last time I went). But it might be fun for some night when you’re not going to rock concerts or scenes!

Which is only to say, more or less, hope and expect you to have an utterly fabulous WAY-too-long-time-coming ball!

    Allan
